Ronny Chieng

comedian. Chieng is currently a senior reporter on The Daily Show on Comedy
Central and creator and star of the sitcom Ronny Chieng International Student
which was first shown on ABC (Australia) and Comedy Central Asia in 2017.
Chieng was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to an Malaysian Chinese family. From
1989 to 1994, he was living in Manchester in New Hampshire. Chieng was a part of
Trevor Noah at a Melbourne comedy festival in 2013. Chieng was later asked to
audition for the position of Noah's Daily Show two years after. In July of
2016, he was named one of the 10 Comics to watch by Variety In October 2016,
Chieng appeared on The Daily Show to give his response to a Jesse Watters Fox
News segment thought to be racist by a large majority of viewers. Chieng
presented an expletive-laden critique of the segment on Fox News that was
deemed conservative by many. He also returned to the city's Chinatown. Watters
had mocked the people living there and conducted interviews with respect in
Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. The video went viral and was covered by the

was a Singapore Sea Scout. Although he has been living in Australia for more
than 10 years, he does not have a permanent residence or citizenship in
Australia. In the year 2018, Chieng joked that he was an apologist during the
Daily Show However, he later , in an interview, he said that he was "100
percent not afraid of dogs".
